Multiscale modelling of multizone gas phase propylene (co)polymerization reactors—A comprehensive review

Catalysts and polymerization processes have evolved over the years. Such significant developments allowed producers to broaden range of polymer microstructure process productivity, thereby making it possible offer a wide end-use properties at reasonably low cost. However, these advantages in catalyst performance reactor operation require that we understand as much about broadest sense. In addition fundamental experimental study chemistry, this means one needs develop complete, robust models. The present paper provides rapid overview recent various gas phase propylene (co)polymerization reactors use today, concentrating on multizone polypropylene reactors: is, circulating (MZCR), fluidized bed with internal circulation (FBR-IC), external (FBR-EC), horizontal stirred (HSBR). We then concentrate advances multiscale modelling reactors, from microscale kinetics active sites, mesoscale, including physical transport thermodynamic single-particle level its boundary layer, up macroscale modelling. A systematic guideline used for selection appropriate models is proposed olefin processes. Finally, current challenges remaining issues related development mathematical are addressed.
